The Pilchard Works

The last remaining Cornish pilchard factory, with heritage on the Newlyn site dating to 1853. Hand-sorted and hand-filled tins of Cornish-caught sardines (Sardina pilchardus) in extra virgin olive oil or rich tomato sauce. MSC certified.

The tin artwork sets them apart: each design draws from the Newlyn School of painters, Walter Langley and Frank Bramley, the Victorian artists who documented the fishing communities of this same Cornish coast. The fish and the paintings come from the same place.

Endorsed by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Tom Parker Bowles. Sold at Waitrose and direct.
